Primary Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Live -Report of four Cases and review of the literature

Abstract
Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the liver is exceedingly rare and has previously been reported in association with hepatic teratoma, hepatic cyst, hepatolothiasis or hypercalcemia in cirrhotic liver.
This unusual primary squamous cell carcinoma of the liver associated with hepatic teratoma was first described by Imai in 1934.
We have experienced four cases of primary squamous cell carcinoma of the liver, three cases of which were associated with clonorchis-sinensis infestation, and two with gallstones.
It was suggested that the clonorchis-sinensis infestation and gallstones may have caused squamous metaplasia of the lining of the bile duct and that in turn was responsible for genesis of squamous carcinoma.
The prognosis of this carinoma was extremely grave, despite all forms of surgical and medical management.
